Welcome to my mediation practice. My name is Dannielle Young, and I have dedicated my career to family law since my admission in 2007. My journey in family law began during my senior years of education, where I gained valuable experience working in family law firms. This passion continued through my university studies, where I once again immersed myself in family law.
I hold a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology), both completed in 2006, followed by a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice the same year. In early 2007, I was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia. My career has seen me practice in boutique law firms on both the Gold Coast and in Brisbane before I undertook the Practice Management Course and opened my own legal practice in 2011. In 2016, seeking to help more families, I made the difficult decision to close my practice and return to private practice.
My dual degrees in law and psychology fuel my passion for helping families navigate their legal disputes. My background in psychology provides me with a deep understanding of human behavior and the profound effects of separation on both parents and children. As a Family Lawyer, I am committed to delivering quality legal advice to people from all backgrounds and am particularly skilled in negotiating matters to save parties from the turmoil of contested litigation. While I am a no-nonsense lawyer with exceptional courtroom advocacy skills, I always strive for amicable resolutions.
Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending my spare time with my two adorable Shih Tzus. My weekends are often spent exploring off-grid locations in my MDC caravan, with my dogs in tow. I am a strong supporter of my local community and small businesses.
I understand the heartbreak and challenges that come with the end of a relationship. However, I firmly believe that prolonging property settlements or parenting disputes only adds to the pain. It’s essential to accept the end, move forward, and embrace the better life that awaits. To further my commitment to helping families, I completed the Managing Family and Domestic Violence Matters - Training for Lawyers Program and obtained a Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution Practice.
I have been involved in mediating family law matters since 2007 and have extensive experience advocating for one party in this context. Now, as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, I genuinely believe that through mediation, addressing underlying issues, and educating families on the benefits of respectful communication and post-separation relationships, we can create better futures and lessen the damage that separation and conflict have on individuals, families, and children.
